I’m Mel, a mother of two (14,10), with a passion for helping my clients visions come to light in way of sweet treats, custom cakes, catering, events etc.
My career started 20 years ago when I trained as a chef in Hawkes bay, qualifying with a London city
& guilds diploma in professional culinary arts. Over the years I’ve worked in many cafes, a la carte restaurants and catered weddings & functions, as well as competed in chef competitions in both Auckland & Wellington, my passion has always been more the patisserie side.

The lady of the house
When my daughter was 1 I started a small cake decorating business from home but when life got busier and my full time work and kids took priority cake decorating took a back seat.
13 years later it’s still where my heart lies so I decided to start from scratch and create a business, I have a purpose built seperate registered kitchen at home where I create handmade fudge bars in a variety of flavours, custom cakes, catering and contract baking for cafes & coffee bars.
Both my children are foodies as well and love seeing what I get up to. I love being able to work around my kids and partner as we also own and Earthworks Business and am excited to share all my goodies with you.
